Our Artisans

Protecting heritage craft and putting the work of talented artisans on the map is core to Obras de Arte. The Obras Loafers are produced where they originated from, Mexico, rather than being replicated and mass produced elsewhere. They are made in a small, family-run workshop in Sahuayo led by an amazing father-daughter team, Isabel and Sebastian. Our two loafer styles have been named after them

Isabel and Sebastian employ over 50 master craftsmen and women with years of experience making huaraches. The workshop pays their artisans a fair wage (20% more than others in Sahuayo), provides a safe and professional work environment with shifts no longer than 8 hours, and many of the artisans work from home allowing them to take care of their children.
